(Quality Management System)

The Coffee Industry Board (CIB) has been charged with the responsibility of guaranteeing that Jamaican coffee is of highest quality and our renowned “Jamaica Blue Mountain® and Jamaica High Mountain®” brands respectively, are protected. The board is also committed to offer customers, stakeholders and interested parties, service that guarantee customer satisfaction.

The CIB realized that it is operating in a global village where the dynamics of the market and the increasing sophistication of the customers, requires that our system of ensuring quality is continually improved.

To ensure that our systems and procedures are able to stand up to scrutiny both internally and externally, the Coffee Industry Board, in 2004 launched a programme of system upgrading, skill revitalization and reallocation of resources within the organization. This was done with a view of realizing superior levels of accountability, transparency and efficiency amongst management and staff and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Through the medium of the Coffee Industry Board ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management system (QMS) the objectives have been achieved. ISO 9001:2000 standard emphasizes customer focus, people involvement, leadership, a systems approach to management, continual improvement and mutually beneficial supplier relationship. The ISO 9001 system was further revised in 2007, to ISO 9001:2008 with more emphasis on customer requirement and satisfaction.

To ensure that our Quality Management System (QMS) continues to keep pace with an evolving work and global environment, the CIB as embarked on further upgrade as we seek to transition from our current system to ISO 9001:2015 with a view of widening our scope and reduce risk associated with our operations. Hence, we have set our sight on a September, 2017 implementation.

These continuous updates, based on periodic evaluation and feedback from our external and internal customers creates a more transparent and efficient working environment, with the promulgation of quality policies, procedures, stated performance objectives and industry standards. Thus sets the organization on path of continual improvement which is in line with our CIB′s Mission, Vision and values.
